Artists, there’s a chance to put your best (store)front forward!
The Capitol Hill Business Improvement District (Capitol Hill BID) is hosting an open call to local artists to submit photographs or digital designs of any medium to be displayed on windows of currently vacant ground floor retail spaces in Capitol Hill.
In efforts to beautify and enhance the storefronts, the art installations bring color and vibrancy to the neighborhood for buildings in transition.
The pilot project featured above was installed mid-June at 419 Eighth St. SE and features a photograph taken by Sam Kittner.
Artists interested in submitting should fill out this form and the proposed design. The Capitol Hill BID says that preferred artworks will reflect the culture, spirit, and history of Capitol Hill Neighborhood but does not need to be solely produced for this purpose.
This is an open call and not a contest, therefore, there is no deadline or limit to submissions. Chosen artists will receive a stipend and appropriate credit (including name and desired social media tags) on the final installation.
