Coastline Restaurant Group, the company behind Harvest Tide (212 Seventh St. SE) have announced the name of the speakeasy set to open upstairs from the steakhouse will be Hyde.
It’s a change from “Side Door,” the name attributed to the upstairs establishment in the original announcement, apparently occasioned to avoid confusion with a speakeasy located under Eckington/Bloomingdale corner pub The Pub and the People (1648 North Capitol St. NW).
In the email announcing the name, Harvest Tide wrote that they were excited at the level of interest in their new venture. The speakeasy takes the space formerly occupied by Harold Black, which closed together with Aqua Al 2 during the pandemic.
Will Hyde have the same dimly lit, low-key, no-flash-photography, feel? So far, the decor is described as “a swanky room with a warm cozy vibe.” We do know it will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 8 p.m. to 12 p.m. A secret will be sent every Thursday that must be shown for entry.
Hyde will feaure a tapas menu created by chef Danio Somoza, craft cocktails from a signature drink menu and dessert cocktails including chocolate-rimmed wine glasses and the popular espresso martini. There will be a captains’ wine list described as “eclectic,” and bottle service available tableside.
Visit Harvesttidecapitolhill.com to sign up for the email and receive the weekly secret , which will be included in their weekly email blast.
