CommunityCelebrate Family Day Sunday at Hill Center

Celebrate Family Day Sunday at Hill Center

This Family Day, take the whole gang to celebrate Hill Center’s 10th birthday! Come mark the occasion with a concert, magic show, and wagon rides, and more.

It’s the first time the neighborhood center has been able to host since 2019.

Commissioned in 1864 as the nation’s first Naval Hospital, the District accepted a 2002 proposal offered by a coalition of Capitol Hill neighbors for the site’s reuse as an educational center for children and adults and a gathering place for community residents.

The Hil Center is pictured during the 2019 Family Day celebrations –the last to be held on site.

The facility underwent a major, $10 million historic renovation, which brought the structure back to its original appearance, adorned in its original colors and surrounded by its monumental wrought-iron fence. The Hill Center opened for the community in 2011.

The celebration will feature horse-drawn wagon rides, interactive games and crafts, Turley the Magician, face-painting, and balloon animals from Balloons by Brenda. The event will be outdoors.

Turley the Magician amuses the crowd at the 2019 Hill Center Family Day.

At 2:30 p.m., Turley the Magician, one of the DC’s most renowned family performers, will entertain and dazzle people of ages with his incredible show.

At 4 p.m., King Bullfrog will hit the stage with high-energy original, folk and blues songs carefully tailored to get children dancing and delight grownups.

The event is free, but you need to ! Do it online today: www.hillcenterdc.org/event/hill-centers-annual-family-day-concert/#
