As cases begin to come in from the Thanksgiving holiday, the District’s positivity rates continue to rise overall.
As of late November, reported daily cases have risien to levels not seen since May. On May 5, there were 27.56 cases reported for evey 100,000 people; on Nov. 30, DC Health reported a case rate of 25.95, a slight decrease from a rate of 27.39 on Nov. 27.
The accuracy of these rates for a given date are affected by the timeliness of test turnaround. DC Health reports it is currently taking 3.7 days for patients to receive test results.

The District’s reported data for Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020 includes 157 new positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the District’s overall positive case total to 21,842.
The District reported that five additional residents lost their lives due to COVID-19, including two men in their 60s and three women aged 69, 72 and 85 years.
Tragically, 690 District residents have lost their lives due to COVID-19.
