DC Fire and EMS extinguished a fire Monday night at 709 12th St. SE, formerly the site of Cesar Chavez Public Charter Schools.
On Twitter, DC Fire said that they responded to a box alarm. There was fire from the roof of the two story section of the school building. Firefighters extinguished the blaze by 11:30 p.m. Monday evening.

There were no injuries in the fire. DC Fire investigators are on the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
Digital Pioneers Academy PCS, a middle school serving grades 6 and 7, had expressed interest in occupying the building prior to the fire. The school focuses on computer science at each grade level, and wanted to relocate from 2220 Branch Ave. SE. It is unclear how the fire will affect those plans.
