The Ward 6 Democrats will be holding their biennial convention this Saturday, June 22. This important meeting is convened every two years in order to conduct the business of the organization: electing the officers who will lead for the next two years and, this year, voting on critical updates to outdated bylaws, which had last been revised in 2003.
All ed Democrats living in Ward 6 should plan to attend and vote on these two critical pieces of business.
The convention takes place from 19 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 22 at Christ Church (620 G Street SE – parking in the rear, accessed from the alley)
In order to open voting, a quorum of at least 35 ed Democrats currently living in Ward 6 is required. Voting is scheduled to begin no later than 10:15 a.m., so promptness is appreciated.
However, once voting is open, votes may be cast at any time until polls close at 1 p.m. You do not need to stay the entire time – you are welcome to drop in any time between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., vote, and go on about the rest of your Saturday.
The current slate of officers has been working on the revisions to the bylaws for the last several months. Please review the revised bylaws before you come. There will not be an in-person review or a discussion at the convention – this will be an up-or-down vote only.
The revised bylaws are available on the Ward 6 Democrates website at https://www.ward6dems.org/proposed_revision_to_bylaws.
